GE Refrigerator or Freezer too Warm?

GE Refrigerator Control Board

GE Refrigerator Main Controller Board

If your GE refrigerator or freezer is suddenly warmer than it should be then you likely have an issue with the main controller board.

The controller board is the brain of the entire refrigerator so if the refrigerator or freezer is too warm then it is likely an issue with the main controller board.  Buttons don’t work on the water dispenser?  Likely the main controller board. The lights work but nothing else? You guessed it.

At this point, most homeowners would call the appliance or refrigerator repairman and probably spend $400 to have it fixed.  Actually you can order the controller board, have it delivered overnight and fix it yourself in under an hour.  You’ll have your freezer freezing and refirgerator cooling in no time and at a fraction of the cost.

I know, it sounds scary but it isn’t really that bad.  Fortunately, you can pick up a new main controller board from Amazon for around $130 and replace them yourself by just following the simple instructions or some youtube videos.  This will likely fix your GE refrigerator cooling issues.

Take your time replacing this controller board by following the video below and your fridge will be cooling as good as new!   Let us know if this worked for you (or not) in the comments below so we can help each other fix these annoying problems!

Try this one. Freezer is ok. Fridge not colder then 40 degrees. Replaced mother board, all 3 Thermister, thermostat, defrost heater, control in fridge to make hotter or colder. 3 tech has been out. Says everything test fine. What is your best guess. Model Gss20iemdcc.

GE refrigerator model #DSHS5PGXAESS, compressor running, condenser fan running and coils clean. Both freezer and fridge side not cooling.

Hi everyone,

We have a GE model# gdssokcxarss and the refrigerator and freezer are not cooling, I’ve turned off the unit, waited a few minutes and plugged it back in. We heard the fan and the compressor kick in but after a few seconds you just hear the fan and nothing else. We have vacuumed the area of the fan and other places but to no avail.

Please help

It is either the compressor or the controller board. Chances are good that it is the controller board.

Do I reset my side by side GE refrigerator

Freezer not cold enough, I have ordered a Mother board but would like to turn off the beeping sound until I can change it, any suggestions

My freezer is 12 degrees and the refrigerator is 58 degrees. The evaporator fan is not working at all and there is a light blinking on the control board for Z1. I’m not sure what the blinking light means. GE won’t tell me, they want to send a repairman to service it. Any idea what that light means?

I have a GE profile model number PFE29PSDCSS serial number LA503812. Originally both freezer and refrigerator stopped cooling and then I already replaced the Compressor inverter, part number WR 87X29409.
After I did that the freezer began working but the refrigerator still is not working.
The refrigerator is only cooling 1° an hour
